president-elect donald trump has proposed a series of tariffs on several nations including china, canada and mexico, in an attempt to resuscitate the US economy and bring jobs back to the country...
well, not another US presidency without ignorance, incompetence and reckless arrogance! tariffs, like all of the United States' past sanctions and trade restrictions on china, are doomed to backfire. the US thinks it still has the ability to manipulate global markets through forceful measures, but what it fails to understand is that the world is shifting away from its outdated, failing influence, the empire is crumbling. this idiocy will result in nothing but hardship for poor, working class americans who will eventually resort to fentanyl and meth to cope with their economic woes.
basic economics 101
tariffs are a tax on imports, which means that the cost of goods will increase for consumers. this is a basic economic principle that has been proven time and time again, yet the US government seems to think that it can defy these laws of economics.
for those with very low IQs, heres a step-by-step explanation of how tariffs work:
- the US government imposes tariffs on chinese goods
- US businesses that import goods from China will have to pay more for those goods, a tax passed on to consumers
- china ultimately doesn't have to change pricing or production as again the US consumer is the one who will pay the price, plus, china can always find other markets to sell to (the Global South, Europe, etc)
the US is like a delusional narcissist, constantly patting itself on the back and living in its fantasy world where it still thinks it can bully the rest of the planet into submission like they did back in the day. the so-called "exceptional" empire is rotting from the inside, it's people are addicted to opioids and gunning each other down in the streets, homeless live in "tent cities", pentagon spends millions on trash cans and toilet seats, average american is in debt up to their eyeballs, and yet they do anything to avoid looking at the reality of their situation. what a nation.
it’s pathetic how a country that claims to champion free markets and capitalism is now resorting to protectionism to prop up its failing system. childish tantrums from a dying empire. the US is a joke, and the world is laughing at it. good riddance!
